Coventry University Degree Shows are an annual event to celebrate and showcase our graduating students’ work as they begin to make their mark in the creative world. Hundreds of designers, artists, performers, photographers, filmmakers and writers hosted events across Coventry.
It’s a huge amount of work for our final year students who do everything from fundraising, marketing to design; they even build their own exhibitions. Our students used over 1008 litres of paint to prepare their spaces and 3600 screws to construct their exhibitions and sets.
Students from the School of Art & Design, School of Humanities and School of Media & Performing Arts exhibited and performed their work in Coventry University and across the City; in the Belgrade Theatre, FarGo Village and on the catwalk in Square One.
Our Art and Design students created some stunning pieces of work in the Graham Sutherland building. Our Fine Art, Fine Art & Illustration students looked at identity and challenged perceptions of disability. In Illustration & Animation and Illustration & Graphics a common theme was looking at the affect social media and technology is having on society. Our students pushed technology too, using holograms to showcase their work. Architecture created some brilliant buildings, Graphic Design produced some beautiful work and our Foundation Diploma Art and Design created some fantastic work.
The Maurice Foss building was a popular destination for industry with Automotive and Transport Design, Product Design and Interior Architecture & Design creating some phenomenal concepts and models.
Our Fashion Show, called Alt/Mode, saw huge organza frills, vibrant prints, over-sized coats and even a dress for conjoined twins. 80 models took to the catwalk for 2 sold out shows at Square One in theHub.
Our Photography and Humanities students transformed Fargo Village into an incredible exhibition space. Almost 100 screens were used to display amazing pieces of work from our Digital Media, Media, Media & Communications and Media Production students.
Our Theatre and Professional Practice students created 12 brilliant shows that where performed at the Ellen Terry Building and The Belgrade Theatre. Our Dance students organised their own performing arts festival called Follow Me Out. Our performers also took to the streets of Coventry putting on pop up shows throughout the city.
