BA (Hons) Dance
My name is Mollie and I have just completed a dance degree at Coventry University.
In our final year, the Dance Graduating Project module offered us the opportunity to develop a practical project developing the ideas which we researched during our dissertation.
I presented my ideas on an installation platform using movement for helping relieve symptoms of stress, depression and anxiety. It contains sensory activities including research explaining how the activity should be used, with a guided session for participants to take part in.
Mental health is something that I am really passionate about. By moving your body and considering how your body feels are really important in acknowledging how you are feeling internally. Recognising this could help with stresses in everyday life and help people to live fuller, more energetic lifestyles.
I have discovered it is something I am ready to study further. I hope to teach young children the benefits of exercise and how to deal with stress. It's never too early to provide children with the opportunities and resources to take care of themselves, and I think every child should have the option to explore dance in a way that I did.
