Cerys Pickford – a freelance illustrator who has a passion for architectural drawing and interior design.
In her practice she explores interior decor, designing and drawing patterns to transfer onto her homeware range. The current working title, ‘In My Element’ reflects her style of bringing botanical and animal designs inside to create a sense of being within nature. In this project she has created images to transfer onto items such as cushion covers, rugs, lampshades, stools and wallpaper. Another aspect of this project is up-cycling, of where Cerys has taken pre-existing furniture and made it her own, including a stool and a chair. The idea came from creating her own little ‘snug’ with elements from outside for those long, cold, wintery days or for people that cannot access the open air, which ultimately led to bringing the outside in.
Being an organised student herself, Cerys also has an interest in stationery and organisation. The enjoyment of illustrating architecture came from a productivity project she recently completed, which culminated with Cerys creating both an illustrated 12- month calendar and productivity wall planner.
