Bibi F Asmahiel
BA (Hons) Fine Art
I am an Uzbek and Ukrainian, artist, born in the Netherlands in 1997. Coventry has been my hometown since the age of eight. From September 2018 I spent one year in Bologna, Italy, on the Erasmus+ programme. There I experienced a buzzing vibrancy and soul that I wish to emulate.
I aim to play an active part in the art industry and community, through study, practice, and work. Throughout my education, a spark of curiosity has fuelled my determination to take teachings to heart and become serious about art.
My practice is a chromatic and linear study of the soul. It explores chromatology and other art theory; historical and contemporary contexts, sociology, environmental studies, philosophy, semantics, semiotics, consciousness and states of mind. This is achieved through the study of oil painting, drawing, and their respective techniques. While undertaking a placement as a scenic artist for theatre has introduced me to an exciting range of modes of representation.
My plan for the future involves many facets of fine art, including working as a freelancer and collaborating with others and in all aspects I aim to work with awareness and consciousness to the best of my abilities.
