Balazs Naughton

Illustration and Animation MA

Balázs is currently completing his Illustration & Animation MA course at Coventry University. In his free time, he likes to play the saxophone, watch films, and bake big pizzas and huge cakes.
From a young age, Balázs had a keen imagination with an interest in animals, mythical creatures, folk tales, and adventure stories all of which he loves to incorporate into his artworks. Colourful, bright, and energetic could all be used to describe his art. During his years of study at Coventry University, he has developed an ‘off-perspective, 2D, abstract-influenced, cartoon’ style.
The Covid-19 lockdown and its impact on travel drew Balázs to the classic Jules Verne adventure story, ‘Around the World in 80 Days’. So, for his final major project, he has created an illustrated anthropomorphic version, and not just with animals. This was illustrated in a style of a children’s book, but not really a young children’s book.
It was an opportunity for Balázs to explore within illustration dealing with the themes of travel, time, movement, and pollution, adding texture in developing these themes in his artwork.
This great adventure story is 150 years old, and he feels it has a relevance today.

Please enjoy the book I have illustrated.
