The Social Lockdown - a 15-minute documentary exploring the influence social media platforms have had on people during the Covid-19 pandemic

I am Teya Ucherdzhieva, a Coventry University graduate with a BA (Hons) Degree in Journalism. My keen passion about finding interesting stories is what drives me to create content telling people's unique experiences because I believe everyone has something interesting to tell. Throughout my course, I also developed a real passion for photo and video editing, and social media. I deeply believe content shared on social platforms can have a huge impact not only on individuals but on whole communities which motivates me to continue my work in documentary production.
'The Social Lockdown' is the final project I created for my university degree. It is a 15-minute documentary that aims to reflect on the role social media played in the lives of people in the UK during the imposed national lockdowns because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The in-depth interviews with individuals using social channels further explored how those platforms helped some of the participants get through the isolation and how it caused a negative impact on other people's mental health. The interviews also comment on the power social media has to influence people's perception of the virus. The final of the film explores how the future of the world might look like once it is once again safe to lead the normal life we are used to.
