This is one of my favourite pages within the book. It is also the first page.

This is my project The Nightmare Birthday. This children's book presents how Bria deals with her anxiety throughout the night before her 7th birthday, I have chosen to highlight aspects of anxiety in children using her being nervous and excited all in one for her birthday as an example, the last few pages of the book presents celebration, portraying a positive outcome! In this story the villain is the nightmares Bria and the victory Is how lovely Bria's birthday truly turns out to be! Throughout each page there are continuation elements that show in the different pages as the story goes on. This book also portrays a positive reflection on what it may be like for children, for every child they will be able to spot things they may see in the story that they may have had at their own birthday, especially for some of the parents who may read this story. The child is a young black girl and I wanted to give the black community an opportunity to enjoy reading this book, and being able to relate to certain elements, such as the process of having to cover your hair whilst you sleep at night.
