MDes / BA (Hons) Product Design
Hi, I'm Aidan Wright, a Product Designer from Coventry University. Over my time at university, I have developed my skills in all areas, which has allowed me to become a well-rounded designer. I enjoy the challenge of working to within a brief to create new and innovative designs, in which each detail and feature has been carefully considered to maximise user experience.
My final major project 'the Stool', is a versatile piece of furniture which could find a place in any home, even with constant life's changes. One day it could be a side table where you charge your mobile, the next it could be a stool for your friend to sit as you watch the sports together.
The idea stemmed from research that shows 25-34yr olds are moving more now than ever, and furniture is notoriously a nightmare to deconstruct, transport, and reassemble. However, 'the Stool' will be the first piece you take with you; it can act as seat to sit on when you haven't had chance to move the chairs yet, or the table to eat at. Each detail has been carefully developed to ensure the best user experience.

The multiple functions of 'the Stool' mean that it will always be useful to the user and in turn making it something they could not live without.
The steam bent birch plywood panels and the contrasting walnut border make up the body of the product. The material selection has been made to ensure that product is durable to allow it to be long lasting whilst remaining sustainable.
