Matthew Williams

MDes / BA (Hons) Product Design

Hello, my name is Matthew Williams. I am a 22-year-old Product Designer and have just finished my 4-year MDes course at Coventry University, as of April 2021.

My time at Coventry University has been spent refining and improving upon certain design skills. I pride myself on my abilities to effectively communicate design outcomes through sketch modelling, rapid prototyping, user testing, 3D CAD, and concept sketches. I have developed new projects within a wide variety of different design briefs ranging from environmental design to smart home technologies. I am also proficient in using software such as Rhino, Solidworks, Keyshot, Blender, Microsoft Office, and the Adobe creative suite.

For my major final year project, I have decided to design a product that can assist restoration divers and organisations in restoring, repairing, and repopulating coral reefs. Due to factors such as climate change and mass coral bleaching, coral reefs are rapidly dying. Reef Sentinel allows restoration divers to store up to 30 small coral samples inside an underwater sea scooter to either be replanted in the reef or taken back to a lab for study. Reef Sentinel can also be used to assist restoration divers and volunteers with swimming in coral reef environments.
