BA (Hons) Fine Art and Illustration
Hey, I'm Nicola Walker, an aspiring art therapist currently living and working in Leicestershire, aged 22.
My practise focuses on expression through varied mediums such as acrylics, paints and arbitrury materials, processes. Recently, I primarily focus on combining physical medium with digital manipulation and editing. These often explore themes surrounding personal journey and expression through mental health ideologies, supported by theory in psychology and contemporary practises. I particularly aim to create artwork that is both visually stimulating and interesting, often using busy, chaotic scenes representing different narratives and stages of emotion, via personal journey.
I enjoy using the embodiment of natural themes throughout my artworks, often relying heavily on my own personal experience and emotions within developing artworks - becoming embedded within my own outcomes. As inspiration and passion play a vital role within the industry, as a contemporary illustrator, colour and visual stimulation is vital in allowing myself to connect with the materials I am using, developing a sense of narrative into each individual outcome. Erica Pang (art-therapist) was one of the first influences in directing my practice towards this area and gave me the inspiration to develop.
