My practice explores the limited imagery of the outside world through my house's window in communication with my background of Asian beliefs in a European environment. Growing up in an immigrant family, my culture and traditions were difficult to practice outside the home and communicate to others. It was hard to be understood and I found myself seeking a more integrated experience. As a result of the mixed culture, I seek ordinary integration in the Asian and European environments. Exploring this issue in the global pandemic, I found the importance of the home; the "home" of Chinese traditional village family and the space during the lockdown. I viewed the unlimitedness of the world through the framed physical windows and the digital browsing windows.
My work plays around the notion of limit, existence and self-involvement in a particular space and time. I have explored the perspective of the outside reality from my inside view. Being contained in the small room of my rented apartment and having buildings blocking my window view, I started to build my works about the imaginary vision of the space. I am also exploring the picture as an alternative way to connect to the world and planet.
