BA (Hons) Fine Art
I'm a visual Fine Artist currently living in Coventry and originally based in Corby, Northamptonshire. For the past three years of university, I've been most interested in the act of observation and allowing myself to be still. This led me to the inspiration of my current practice that explores our consciousness to the present. Moments of peace, tranquility and calmness are disrupted by our society's need for going at such a fast pace, not allowing us to really connect to the beauty of our environment. The beauty of our environment can be anything that has the power to resonate with us, whether it's loved ones, people, nature or objects. Photography is what helps me to capture my own personal moments spontaneously and in a genuine manner, in other words, allowing the image to find me instead of me finding the image. Drawing inspiration from my images, I also indulge in printing processes such as mono-printing and cyanotypes. Linking back to my acts of observation, the handmade aspects of my work allows me to reabsorb the memory of being present within the images that I'd taken.
