BA (Hons) Fine Art
My body of work is based around human production of single use plastic waste. The fundamental idea of my work was to break down my different materials in order to explore different ways to rebuild, reshape and recontextualize them into something new. I found that an interesting approach to reconstruction was the use of traditional crafting techniques such as knitting and weaving, which also created a nice transition for those plastics to be introduced into the domestic setting. My goal; to create a narrative on how these man-made materials can be a hinderance on the environment by transforming them into a hinderance of the home. To do this I placed my piece around the house, in places where it would be likely to cause inconvenience and proceeded to created a series of photographs. I even tried mummifying a person in this plastic bag tapestry type creation with the key word of RESTRICTION in mind.
